Who do we donate to

Backpacks for Kids is currently partnered with all LHUSD #1 Elementary Schools and Thunderbolt Middle School. If you child/student attends one of the following schools, you are eligible to request a backpack.

WHAT COMES INSIDE OUR BACKPACKS

Backpacks for Kids strives to fill each backpack with everything a student needs to start the first day of school. There will be some supplies (i.e. kleenex, disinfectant wipes, and xerox paper) that will not be included in the backpack. Below is a list of some supplies you can expect to find depending on the grade and school of your student.

Pencils, Pens, Highlighters, Pocket folders, Erasers, Pencil sharpeners, Markers, Crayons, Colored pencils, Pencil boxes/bags, Scissors, Glue bottles/sticks, Rulers, Notebooks, Binders, Lined paper, Calculators, Protractors, Dry erase markers

BACKPACK DELIVERY

Backpacks will be delivered to each of the schools the week before school resumes. Our team tries our absolute best to make sure backpacks are delivered before "Meet the Teacher," open house, and orientation dates. Please contact your student's school with any questions regarding pick-up.

Backpacks for Kids at a Glance

Our Background and Mission

Every year many families struggle with the expense of having to purchase back-to-school supplies, and this summer I am following in my older sister, Ciella’s footsteps to help make a change. Over the past seven years, she has filled over 1,500 backpacks for students in our community, and I am not stopping there. This summer I hope to fill 200 backpacks, and I need your help. Please join me in my efforts by making a monetary or supply donation.

Giving Back One Backpack at a Time

Backpacks for Kids is a nonprofit, 501c3 certified organization. Founded in 2010 by sixth-grader, Ciella Burke, Backpacks for Kids has been donating to the community of Lake Havasu City for 7 years. This organization spends the summer months collecting monetary and supply donations to fill backpacks for underprivileged students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
